Don’t be misled: there’s more than one way to add SEO to your mortgage website.

In previous posts, we showed you how to create SEO mortgage content, but there are more things you can do to encourage search engines to rank your site higher.

While these SEO tactics are advanced, they aren’t difficult to implement. Check out these 5 SEO tactics that can supercharge your search engine ranking and make it easier for your consumer to find you.

Contact Info Correct Across the Web

Sometimes the most obvious things are the ones overlooked.

That’s often the case with contact information.

Have you moved location this past year? Maybe added a new branch?

Whenever there’s a change in your contact information, make sure that you’ve updated it across the web. That goes for Google, Yelp, Zillow, and even Apple Maps!

Sometimes, correcting the mistake is as easy as logging in and updating. Other times, like with Apple Maps, you’ll have to notify them to make the change.

Having multiple contact information results not only confuses a prospective borrower but also pulls web traffic away from your business and could potentially get you penalized from search engines.

Don’t forget your social media profiles — especially Facebook and Instagram because they allow the user to connect to you directly from the platform.

Click-to-Call

Click-to-call is a link on your mortgage website that makes it easy for a user to call you from their mobile phone.

Considering the rise of mobile searches and search engines preference for mobile-friendly sites, you can see why this little change can make a huge impact on your SEO.

Adding this feature involves inserting some code. The code itself is simple but knowing where to put it can be tricky, so it’s best to have a web developer to do it for you.

If your current mortgage website has third-party apps, you might want to think twice about using an app to add a click-to-call feature. Third-party apps are notorious for crashing and may not always be compatible with updates.

That’s why we recommend having the click-to-call feature native on your mortgage website.

Before you hire a developer though, did you know that our mortgage website templates already come with this feature?

For just about the same price of hiring an experienced developer, you can have a whole new mortgage website with a click-to-call feature and MANY MORE mobile-friendly, SEO bonuses that can help boost your ranking!

Clients For Reviews

You may have heard that word-of-mouth and personal recommendations are a thing of the past and that it’s all about digital — well that’s not entirely true.

Online reviews are the digital form of personal recommendations and search engines take notice!

Lender reviews on Google My Business, Yelp, Linkedin, and Zillow are hot search topics, so make sure you’re listed on those sites, ready to receive reviews.

Editor’s Note: It may be against policy to ask clients for a review. You can, however, let them you know you are on those sites by including a link on mortgage website and your email signature.

Don’t forget to respond to reviews too! These platforms will often publicly post the response time to reviews. A fast reply can go a long way when it comes to ranking.

Facebook is also great for reviews! They don’t necessarily pop up on Google searches, but they will on other browsers like Safari and Firefox.

Rewrite Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions

We talked about your website metas in this previous blog post. As a quick review, know that the meta title and the meta description is what appears in search queries.

Relevant and enticing metas are critical to your mortgage SEO.

But wait!

Don’t change just change any metas — that might actually lower your ranking. Instead, only change the metas of web pages that have a high amount of impressions but low click-through rate.

Editor’s note: an impression when a web page appeared on the search. It does not mean that a user clicked on it.

If you have a page that is already ranking well (high amount of impressions) but little traffic (low click-through) then adjusting the meta title and description to one that triggers a click from your mortgage prospect is all you need to supercharge your web traffic!

how to find which pages need a rewrite of metas:

  • Sign up for Google Search Console and add your website
  • Google will analyze your site (it may take a few days)
  • Once Google is done, click on “Search Analytics” on the Search Console dashboard
  • Look for the pages that have a high impression but low click-through rate

Once you find those golden eggs, rewrite the title and description into something that is irresistible (but still relevant to the content) to your prospect.

Accessing your metas to edit varies on the website platform. However, if you are using one of our mortgage website templates, you can edit your metas easily from the admin view of the web page.

Rank With Your Featured Images

A featured image is the main image on the article or blog.

If you’ve ever shared an article on Facebook, then you might have noticed that an image organically shows up in the post. That’s a featured image.

Images have been shown to get more clicks (the more clicks you have, the more search engines like you), and gives you an opportunity to appear on Google’s image search.

Here’s another reason to pay more attention to your featured image: Pinterest!

Pinterest is one of the few social media platforms that Google lists in their search results. In other words, if you search for images of “kitchen upgrades worth investing” you won’t get any images from Facebook or Instagram.

You will, however, get images from Pinterest!

To optimize your image for search engines,  edit the image description so that it includes the title of your article.

For Pinterest, add a great summary and include it a board with other pins on the same topic.

Want even more clickability? Include the title of the article right on the image, just like we did on the featured image of this post.
